A full acupuncture consultation includes a 90 minute initial visit in which the doctor discusses your full health profile, including your current health, your likes and dislikes, your daily habits, your favorite foods and colors, your temperament and many other factors.
All of these together help the doctor to get an idea of your body type and your needs.
The initial consultation also includes a 20 minute treatment session.
For patients who are not members of the practice, a Functional Medicine consultation includes a thorough work through of your health profile and an assessment of which labwork is useful to you (and which labwork is just a waste of your money!) It includes looking at the entire spectrum of health (not just illness and wellness) and integrating all of the different aspects of Functional Medicine into your body as a whole.
Dr. Kaul uses integrative medicine in each of her patient visits, and this viewpoint is included in all aspects of membership. Her first goal is to try to get you off medications (if possible) and improve your health in a holistic way. When medications are absolutely necessary, Dr. Kaul has that expertise as well!

Dr. Kaul truly believes the word holistic includes all kinds of care. You do not need to go to someone separate for Integrative Medicine, Functional Medicine, acupuncture, Ayurveda, or yoga knowledge as Dr. Kaul uses all of those tools and more in her overall practice of medicine.
